Consulting Senior Financial Analyst

Summary of Position

As a Consulting Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in assisting clients during periods of change, transition, and growth through hands-on Financial Planning and Analysis services. Partnering with members of the PlusPoint and client teams, you will deliver value-added financial plans, models, and analysis as dictated by the client situation and needs. Your clients will range from the scrappy start-up, looking to develop a financial model to support early fundraising, to the established company, seeking analyses in support of strategic initiatives and business decisions. Areas of focus include:

  • Developing, enhancing, and delivering financial plans and models as well as executive summaries that assist in telling the client’s story
  • Preparing ad-hoc analyses and providing value-added insights in support of strategic initiatives and business decision-making
  • Managing monthly and other periodic budget versus actual reporting and providing insightful variance analysis reports
  • Developing and reporting client appropriate KPIs and metrics
  • Preparing materials for Board, investor, and other stakeholder communication on financial expectations and results
  • Evaluating existing forecasting tools and processes, recommending and delivering improvements
  • Develop proforma and other analysis relating to potential mergers and acquisitions
  • Partnering with other team members to identify and deliver appropriate digital systems and system related product offerings
  • Mentoring PlusPoint and client personnel to increase understanding of business planning processes and cadences, KPIs and metrics, and value of measuring actual vs. plan/forecast results
  • Collaborate with partners and executive consultants on developing and implementing strategic goals in the planning & analysis and systems product lines

Measures of Success

The requirements of every client engagement vary. Your success will be measured by your ability to:

  • Develop and maintain the trust and confidence of clients, team members and other partners while often working from a remote location
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with PlusPoint and client team members to achieve desired outcomes
  • Self-start and self-direct activities, including ongoing adjustment of activity priorities, among multiple clients and multiple and varied projects.
  • Effectively communicate with client personnel at multiple levels in the organization, including mobilizing and managing internal resources toward achieving committed outcomes and deadlines.
  • Assess current state of client FP&A operations and recommend and deliver improvements for sustained results
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing planning and reporting processes, obtain client-side support, and implement recommendations and improvements in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Deliver high quality results, including financial reports, metrics, operating plans, etc., within established timelines and budgets
  • Effectively manage, mentor, and coach client and PlusPoint team members
  • Complete other project-based deliverables as required

Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • Minimum 7 -12 years of experience obtained through increasingly responsible positions in business financial planning, reporting, and analysis across multiple industries and a variety of small to large corporations
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships across all levels of organizations
  • Outstanding business acumen, analytical skills, and understanding of business operations
  • Demonstrated passion for consulting as evidenced by mindset of taking personal satisfaction for helping others, self-management of your workload and being able to adapt to various types of organization’s needs and requirements
  • Knowledge of accounting, revenue recognition, financial statements, and analysis concepts and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, automated financial and reporting systems, other Microsoft Office products, and other tools commonly used by accounting and finance teams
  • Demonstrated experience gathering reporting requirements and generating complex financial models, reports and executive level summaries/dashboards
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify and communicate complex financial issues to executives and peers in a manner that achieves buy-in/gains acceptance
  • Ability to work through and guide others through ambiguity
  • Experience developing three statement financial plans and forecasts, cash forecasts, and financial and operating metrics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting; CPA or MBA a plus
  • SaaS experience a plus
